The Central Salford URC was formally announced by the Deputy Prime Minister on 1 February 2005 and has been established to stimulate new investment and strategically co-ordinate regeneration and redevelopment in the seven wards of Kersal, Broughton, Irwell Riverside, Orsdall, Langworthy, Claremont and Weaste, and Seedley.

The position of Chief Executive Officer has been filled by Chris Farrow.

There will be ambitious proposals to transform Central Salford over the next 15-20 years.
