1st East is the urban regeneration company for Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. It has been set up to reverse the economic decline of the two towns by creating a larger and more diversified employment structure. Our vision is to create a sustainable community in both towns that can thrive independently of the URC in 10 years' time.

Facing out towards Europe we have a unique opportunity to create an urban renaissance in the brownfield waterfront areas of the two towns.

Mission Statement

1st East aims to tackle the physical and social deprivation in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth that is a barrier to wealth creation. The company will focus on the regeneration of specific areas of the two towns and on economic growth based on the renewable energy sector, port activities, tourism, existing sectors such as electronics and new service sector opportunities.
